JAY – Police Chief Larry White said 49-year-old Steven Morse was cooperative when he was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault.

Morse had requested police to respond to his residence on Morse Hill Road at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

He had asked a woman to leave his home and asked police to have her removed.

When Officer Blaine Rackliffe arrived with White, the woman alleged that a physical argument had ensued involving pushing and shoving, White said. She sustained no apparent injuries, he added.

Morse was taken to the Franklin County jail where he was released on $2,000 unsecured bail on the condition that he have no contact with the woman.

She had complied with Morse’s request and had moved out of the house.
