UXBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) – A motorcycle slammed into a pedestrian on Aldrich Street, killing himself and the operator of the bike, police said.
Police identified the motorcycle rider as Christopher J. Nolan, 29, of Pascoag, R.I., and the pedestrian as Michael E. Day, 25, of Uxbridge.
Police said Nolan was riding from Rhode Island toward Route 146A when his bike struck Day in the middle of the road about 8:50 p.m. Saturday just west of the South Uxbridge fire station. Nolan was pronounced dead at Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital in Milford, and Days at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, Worcester.
Police Chief Scott J. Freitas said the cause of the accident was under investigation.
Six other fatal motorcycle accidents have occurred in Central Massachusetts this month, the Telegram & Gazette of Worcester reported Monday. Fatal crashes were recorded in Ashland, Gardner, Warren, Westminster, Worcester and Clinton.
Also, two men from Central Massachusetts died this month at a South Dakota motorcycle rally.
