LEWISTON – Defending champions Marty Roop, Sr., and Tom Brunelle beat fellow members Andy Gagne-Bill Mahar in the 2004 Team Match Play Best Ball Tournament. The incumbents fired fine front 9 scores of 36 and 40, but were only 2 ahead at the turn. On the 14th hole the match appeared to be over when Brunelle’s tee shot came to rest just a few fee from the pin. Not to be outdone, Gagne chipped in for his birdie, halved the hole and kept the match alive.
However,Roop finished off the challengers with a bogie on the 15th hole, as he and his teammate prevailed in the match, 5 and 3.
