EAST DIXFIELD – The Countryfolk Music Theatre will host its final Sunday country jam session of the season from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, at the site on Route 2.
Many local musicians participate in the season finale, which is its Youth Music Scholarship fund-raiser for the year. Special guests performing this weekend will be Barry Wood with Bing and Nancy Crosby of Jay, Shawna Edwards of Auburn, Patrick Libby of Livermore Falls, Stevie Cee from Biddeford, Norm and Betty DeCoteau of Norway, Ginger Mae Dyer of Corinna, and other local musicians.
“We’re looking for a big turnout, 20 to 40 musicians and lots of spectators,” said spokeswoman Linda Latham. “It’s always free, but suggested donations of $5 support our youth music scholarships.”
Local youth musicians receiving awards were Patrick Libby of Livermore Falls, who also recently won a statewide competition with the Downeast Country Music Association, which allows him to travel to Tennessee to compete in March. Other winners were Ray Hutchinson of Jay, Tracy Rich of Livermore, Emily Ray of Canton, Zenna Hajek of Chesterville, Kayla and Katie York of Farmington, Beth Hutchinson of Jay, Levi Brogna of Greene and Shawna Edwards of Auburn.
Larry Bisbee, director of the Countryfolk Music Theatre project, said, “It’s a potluck meal; bring your favorite dish to share, and we’ll have a grand old Sunday afternoon of music, food and good family entertainment.”
