LEWISTON – The Lewiston campus of Andover College has been approved by the Travel Institute as a site to offer the Travel Agent Proficiency test, according to Miriam Gough, travel and tourism program director for the college.
The Lewiston site now joins the Portland campus in becoming the only two approved testing sites in the state.
The Travel Agent Proficiency test was developed in 1997 by the Travel Institute and the American Society for Travel Agents. With the help of experts in the travel industry and a leading test development firm, the TAP test was designed to provide a national standard of entry-level proficiency for the travel industry. Since its inception in December of 1997, more than 7,100 candidates have taken the TAP test.
