PORTLAND – Three-time Grammy winner Bruce Hornsby will perform Nov. 4 at the State Theatre. Tickets go on sale at noon on Friday, Sept. 10.
Hornsby also is scheduled to make TV appearances on “The View” live at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3; on Conan O’Brien’s show Sept. 3; on “CBS Saturday Morning” Sept. 4 and on David Letterman at a date to be announced.
“Halcyon Days,” Hornsby’s ninth full-length album, evokes hopes for the future and memories of the past while appreciating, he says, “Great days, beautiful peaceful days when they happen in these times.”
Hornsby has sold more than 10 million records since his multi-platinum debut in 1986. He draws from an array of influences, including jazz, pop, classical, bluegrass, rock and vaudeville.
“Halcyon Days” has 11 new songs written by Hornsby. Guest artists on the album include Elton John, Lloyd Jones, Eric Clapton and Sting.
Hornsby recorded his debut album, “The Way It Is,” with his band, the Range. His debut generated three Top 20 hits, including its No. 1 title track. It earned Hornsby and the band the Best New Artist Grammy for 1986.
Hornsby’s second Grammy in 1989 was for Best Bluegrass Recording for “Valley Road” from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “Will The Circle Be Unbroken, Volume II,” and his third Grammy in 1993 for Best Pop Instrumental was “Barcelona Mona” created with Branford Marsalis for the Barcelona Olympics.
One of pop music’s most in-demand sidemen, Hornsby has played on more than 100 records with artists ranging from Bob Dylan, Don Henley and the Grateful Dead to Bob Seger, Bonnie Raitt, Béla Fleck and Willie Nelson.
The Nov. 4 concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at The State Theatre, 609 Congress St.
Tickets, $28.50 and $25 for reserved seating, will go on sale at noon Sept. 10.
