The stories about a strange animal (“Weird creature rears its head,” Aug. 27) really interested us because about a month or so ago, we saw one here on Hill’s Ridge that was different from anything we’d ever seen.

It was about 2 p.m. and we were coming home. Out behind the buildings was this strange animal. It appeared larger than a dog, had a bristly looking coat, sort of a mottled gray and black. It was not a bit timid, stared right at us.

I would like to have paused and looked at it more closely but John, the golden retriever, was having a barking, clawing fit in the back seat, so I kept going around the turn and on into the garage and closed the door before letting John out.

We have never seen it again but wondered if it might be the same creature causing problems in Wales.
