LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center’s Senior Health and Wellness Services will offer the following programs to the region’s older residents during September:
Fit and Fun: Low impact aerobics, strengthening, stretching and flexibility. The class will be offered from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. A fee will be charged.
People with Arthritis Can Exercise or Personal Fitness: Program includes a one-on-one evaluation and exercises designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion. The class will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A fee will be charged. Call for class times.
Wellness for Life: CMMC’s Comprehensive Cancer Program and its Wellness Center are jointly sponsoring the program, which will offer opportunities for cancer patients to have an individual consult with a personal health trainer, participate in group exercise and join in the Cancer Wellness Support Group meetings. From 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Sept. 7. A fee will be charged.
Bladder health consults: Angela Dubuc, RN, manager of the CMMC Bladder Control Center, will offer consults on Monday, Sept. 20, by appointment. Participants can meet one-on-one to discuss concerns and learn about possible solutions to bladder-related problems. The consults are free.
Hearing screenings: Hearing Healthcare Associates will offer a free hearing screening on Monday, Sept. 20. Participants will learn about the acuity of their hearing and discover if their hearing might be improved. The screenings will be offered by appointment.
ScoreKeeper: The Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute will sponsor a free ScoreKeeper cardiac risk assessment screening by appointment on Wednesday, Sept. 29. Free. By appointment only.
Blood pressure screenings: Free screenings will be offered on a walk-in basis on Mondays between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays between and 11 a.m.
