GREENE – This weekend marks a day of festivities for the town as it marks its fourth annual Greene Village Celebration.

The event kicks off Saturday with a pancake breakfast at the town building starting at 7 a.m. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. and will stretch from Main Street to Recreation Drive.

Town Clerk Sally Ann Hebert said because this Saturday is Sept. 11, the theme of the parade will be heroes.

“There will also be a rope course dedication made by the police,” she said. “We will also be unveiling our new firetruck. It should be a good time for everyone.”

Children and adults will have the opportunity to compete in several contests, including pie eating, frog jumping, tire throwing and fry pan tossing.

The event will also host a kids’ cookie contest and a bake sale. To bring things to a close there will be a bake bean supper at the town building from 4 to p.m. For more information phone 946-5146.
