AUBURN – Ron Potvin of Auburn has announced his candidacy for House District 69 which, after redistricting, is comprised of New Auburn and the downtown neighborhoods of Auburn.

Potvin, a vocal community activist, is a familiar face at Auburn City Hall calling for decreased spending and fiscal restraint.

“My intention in running for this house seat is to bring significant change to the way things are done in Augusta,” Potvin said. “I am floored by the continued attempts to undercut programs and aid that directly affect the senior community.”

Potvin, who stays at home to take care of both his parents, knows first hand the inability of the state to adequately provide for senior services such as the home care and personal care. “This is one giant red flag screaming to be addressed as the number of retirees continues to climb,” Potvin said.

“With priorities focused on laptop programs instead of focusing on adequate funding for those most needy, points to an incredible lack of leadership that demands to be addressed.”

Other issues Potvin hopes to work on is continued tax reform along with the creation of opportunity for the youth of the state to embrace Maine as their home for a lifetime.

Potvin, the Republican nominee, works as an officer with the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department and is a security manager for Verizon Communications. He is also a member of the Regional Transportation Advisory Board, the Auburn Zoning Board of Appeals and a member of the Auburn/Lewiston Bowling Association.
