FARMINGTON – Gladys Bean, 101, of Farmington, formerly of Strong, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 8, at Edgewood Manor Rehabilitation Center. She previously had resided at Pinewood Terrace in Farmington for several years.

She was born in Strong, Aug. 16, 1903, a daughter of Harry and Jennie (Gray) Lambert and received her education in Strong schools. She worked at Forster Mfg. Co. in Strong for several years. Mrs. Bean was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Strong American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, crocheting, and she adored her family.

She is survived by a brother, Richard Lambert, of Strong; a grandson, Stephen Bean, of Auburn; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Neeley, of Farmington; great-grandchildren, Tera Lane, of Boothbay Harbor, Nichole Eustis, of Chesterville, and Teresa Bean, of Chesterville; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, C. Ray Bean, a son, Milton Bean in 1961, a daughter-in-law, Miriam “Mim” Gilbert in 1994, a grandson, Allan Bean, and a great-grandson, Thomas Bean.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Pinewood Terrace and Edgewood Manor for the excellent care that Mrs. Bean received while making her home there.
