FRYEBURG – A 19-year-old Lovell man was injured Thursday after driving his station wagon into a tree, according to police.

Jason Margeson, whose address was unknown Friday, was driving a 1989 Volvo south on Lovell Road when he drove off the road and into a stand of trees, Fryeburg Police Chief Tom Hoepner said Friday.

Hoepner said the accident occurred during a heavy downpour about 3 p.m.

Fryeburg Rescue and the Fryeburg Fire Department had to use the hydraulic tool Jaws of Life to extract Margeson from the car, he said.

“The vehicle was a total loss, and the tree didn’t fare so well either,” Hoepner said.

He said he believed Margeson was transported to Memorial Hospital in North Conway, N.H.

Hospital officials did not reply to requests for information on Margeson’s condition Friday.
