LEWISTON – Boot Camp for New Dads is a community education program for first-time fathers. Taught by fathers, Boot Camp helps new dads step up to the challenge of being a dad and to feel confident about bringing the new baby home.

The three-hour workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 18, at Advocates for Children, B Street Community Center, 57 Birch St. It will cover baby care, the changing role of fathers and how to meet the needs of new mothers.

The class will also provide a hands-on opportunity for prospective dads to practice baby care skills under the guidance of veteran dads who bring their new babies to class.

Boot Camp veterans benefit from networking and mutual support when they return with their babies at a subsequent workshop.

For more information about the free program or to register, contact Advocates for Children at 783-3990 or visit the Web site at www.advocatesforchildren.net.

Advocates for Children is a participating United Way agency and a recipient of a Lewiston Community Development Block Grant.
