NORWAY – The Stephens Memorial Hospital Thrift Shop will hold its annual jacket and coat sale from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 16 and 17, and from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the shop on Danforth Street.

There is a large selection of all sizes.

Fall job fair

PARIS – The Western Maine Community Action Career Center and the Growth Council of Oxford Hills will host a fall job fair from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 17, at the Western Maine University and Community College Center, 232 Main St. The building is located beside Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

There is no fee for recruiter space, but notice to attend is requested to be included in the event promotion pieces.

The last job fair was attended by more than 30 employers and 200 job seekers, according to Diane Peet of the Career Center.

Hazardous waste

NORWAY – Lewiston and the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments is organizing the 10th annual household hazardous waste collection. Participating towns will include Norway, Paris, Albany, Buckfield, Fryeburg, Greenwood, Hartford, Hebron, Magalloway Plantation, Newry, Otisfield, Oxford, Sumner, Sweden, Waterford, West Paris, and Woodstock.

The Norway and Paris Transfer Station will receive household hazardous waste from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the station at 39 Brown St.

Products allowed will be any items containing the words “poison,” “corrosive,” “toxic,” “volatile,” “flammable,” “caution,” “danger” or “warning” on the label. Mercury contained in products such as thermometers and thermostats will also be included. According to AVCOG, improperly discarded, these products can be a fire hazard, can poison people or animals, or can pollute the home and environment. PARIS – The Christian Women United will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the First Congregational Church. PARIS – Paris Lodge 94 A.F. & A.M. will meet beginning with supper at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars hall on East Main Street. This will be Gripe Night.

Benefit concert rehearsals

PARIS – Rehearsals for the Christmas for Teens benefit concert will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, in the Oxfords Hills Comprehensive High School music room. People who can sing any vocal parts are welcome; no experience is necessary. The chorus will sing a variety of holiday songs, but there is an opportunity for auditioned solos, ensembles and specialty numbers from chorus members. School groups and faculty members are encouraged to participate. Christmas for Teens is in its fifth year. All proceeds from the Dec. 3 concert benefits area teens in need who are full-time students.
