PARIS – Nominations for the Community Service and Employee of the Year awards are being accepted by the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce.
Twenty-eight years ago, Josephine Stone of Barjo’s Restaurant on Main Street in Norway was honored with the first Community Service Award for her uncompromising commitment to the towns of the Oxford Hills and those who were in need. Since then the chamber has presented this award to an additional 49 recipients, honoring those who represent the very best in selfless dedication to helping make Oxford Hills a better place to live.
Nominations for this year’s award are being accepted through the end of October. The criteria for nominees has been, and continues to be, long-term service to the towns and residents of the Oxford Hills. All nominations must be submitted along with the official nomination form, which is available at the chamber office at 213 Main St. in South Paris.
The Employee of the Year Award is relatively new, Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer John Williams said. It gives employers in the area a chance to recognize the outstanding work being done in their businesses by individuals who have helped the business grow and be a positive catalyst for the community as well.
Nominees must be employees of chamber members, and nominations must be submitted on an official form, which can be obtained through the chamber office by calling 743-2281.
