Dear Sun Spots: I have some gift certificates from Marco’s Restaurant and was wondering if they’re planning on rebuilding?

If possible, we would like to have these honored. – A Lewiston Senior Citizen.

Answer: You will recall this wonderful landmark was destroyed by fire in July.

Sun Spots spoke with owner Steve Taylor who says anyone with gift certificates is more than welcome to use them when Marco’s reopens. While they do not have a building at present, Taylor says Marco’s has plans to come back bigger and better. So Sun Spots would urge you to hang onto the certificate until they reopen.

Dear Sun Spots: The volunteers at St. Martin de Porres will hold a fall fair Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Lepage Conference Center, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, 99 Campus Ave., Lewiston, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items in good condition for the white elephant table are still being accepted. However, please note we are accepting no clothes please!

Items can be brought to the St. Martin de Porres, 23 Bartlett St., Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and noon. Alternatively, you can call Connie Brochu at (207) 782-8490 or Claire Moore at (207) 782-0055 to arrange for pickup. Those who wish to donate apples, pumpkins, baked goods and fudge may bring their items the day of the fair to the Lepage Conference Center between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Dear Sun Spots: I hope there is a Mary Kay representative who can help me. I understand that the following product: Day Radiance Liquid Foundation (fawn beige) has been discontinued. Answer: Contact Sheena Peillet at (207) 782-4194, a Mary Kay representative who says Mary Kay has a replacement color that is a better formula and matches the one you are seeking exactly. She would be willing to go to your house and help you out. Please feel free to give her a call. Peillet also has a summer/fall 2004 brochure that shows the foundation colors and she recommends you get a brochure and place a dab of your current foundation next to each to see which is the closest match.

Dear Sun Spots: My daughter suffers from depression and other health problems. However, a treadmill will increase her serotonin levels and is a must as winter comes along. She does walk every day. Anyone that has a treadmill, in good working condition that they would be willing to donate would be greatly appreciated. – No Name, Farmington.
