Society picnic

MEXICO – The Acadian Society will have its annual picnic at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Mexico Rec Park. Those who plan to attend should bring a salad or dessert.

Library changes

DIXFIELD – Preschool story time will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays beginning Sept. 20 at the Ludden Memorial Library. Saturday hours from 9 a.m. to noon resumed Sept. 11. The changes will be in effect until Memorial Day.

Society speaker

DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Historical Society met on Sept. 9 when a 50/50 drawing was held.

Sheryll Crawford of Spring Street, Dixfield, won a cash prize of $253, which she donated back to the society.

The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, in the charter meeting room of the society. Peter Stowell of West Gardiner will speak about the Stowell legacy in Dixfield. The public is invited.
