WILTON – The ninth reunion of the descendants of Alton and Ethel (York) Adams was held Aug. 21 at Kineowatha Park.

A day of socializing and activities began with coffee and breakfast treats. A potluck supper and business meeting was held Saturday evening. A memorial service led by Candy Goodwin opened the meeting. Vera Corey and Nathan Goodwin lit candles and Corey read the names of deceased family members followed by prayer by Andy Goodwin and a moment of silence.

Candy Goodwin had a sample copy of a family cookbook that she is compiling. She needs more recipes. Richard Corey is doing a family photo album and would like to have anyone contact him if they have old family photos.

The statistical report given by the secretary included three births, three marriages, no deaths and two divorces. There are 120 direct descendants, 158 including spouses, and 11 direct descendant deaths.

It was voted to move the reunion date back to the fourth weekend in July.

Officers elected for a two-year term are: honorary president, Vera Corey; president, Andy Goodwin; vice president, Lucille Stevens; secretary and historian, Methel Goodwin, with assistant, Christina Goodwin; and treasurer, Butch Adams.

Committees include: food, Hal and Linda Stone, Tim Goodwin and Stephanie Hopkins; entertainment, Candy, Christina, Cassie, Andy, Kathleen, Courtney, Ashley and Nathan Goodwin.

Buotte gathering

ROXBURY – The Buotte family reunion was held at the home of Bruce and Lisette Waugh, Roxbury Pond, on Aug. 21. A potluck lunch was served for 68 followed by an auction with Steve Buotte as auctioneer.

Winner of this year’s cribbage tournament was Bruce Waugh; horseshoe tournament, Steve Buotte and Eugene Buotte; and 50/50, Steve Buotte Youngest in attendance was Caitlin Langervine of Dixfield and oldest was Robert Kellogg of Rumford.

Family members traveling the farthest were Steve and Sue Buotte of New Port Richey, Fla. Others traveled from Mexico, Rumford, Dixfield, Turner, Auburn, Skowhegan, Avon, Anson, Wayne, Clinton, Boothbay, Newport and Voluntown, Conn. Events was capped with karaoke by Bill and Betsy Lynn of Wayne. Next year’s reunion will be held Aug. 20 at the same time and place.
