DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Congregational Church on the Hill will hold a Harvest Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18. On sale will be a variety of apples and pumpkins along with baked goods, primarily spotlighting the fruits of harvest time.
Along with the Harvest Fest a chicken barbecue will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A dinner will include a grilled half chicken, either in barbecue sauce or garlic and herb marinate, homemade baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, roll and apple crisp for $7. Take-out orders will be available. A special package will be a take-out dinner for four at the cost of $25. Call the church at 562-4582, on the day of the festival for orders.
There will also be a white elephant area, including a Halloween yard sale. The church sponsored a haunted house a few years back and is selling the props and costumes, along with multiple yards of black material. Anyone interested in purchasing the entire package may call 562-4582 or 562-7095 before Sept. 18.
Harvest supper
RANGELEY – The Catholic Women’s Club will hold its annual harvest supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Masonic Hall, Richardson Street.
The meal will include a full turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, squash, cranberry sauce and gravy. Dessert will consist of homemade pie with ice cream. Drinks will include coffee, tea or lemonade.
The price will be $8 for adults and children 12 and under $4. This dinner is to help support the scholarship fund.
Tag, bake sale
RUMFORD – A tag/bake/book sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Rumford Library. The event is being sponsored by Friends of Library and profits will benefit library programs.
No clothing or large appliances will be available, but a miscellany of books and household, yard and work items will fill the tables. Anyone wishing to contribute items may do so by calling the library for information.
Harvest time
BETHEL – The Bethel Historical Society will hold its annual Apple/Pumpkin Festival at the O’Neil Robinson House on Saturday, Sept. 18, as part of Harvestfest.
Activities will include cider pressing, applesauce making, pumpkin decorating and a pumpkin whoopie pie sale beginning around noon. There will be exhibits on Bethel, Molly Ockett and the Martin mineral. The museum shop will be open.

Meeting change
RUMFORD – Stephens High School Class of 1954 will not meet on its regular date. Instead a meeting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Auger camp in Oquossoc. Anyone planning to attend is requested to call ahead at 864-3467 by Saturday, Sept. 18. Rain date will be Wednesday, Sept. 22.
