One of the new events this year at the Farmington Fair is Franklin County Extension’s presentation of rural heritage skill demonstrations each day.

Those demonstrations are:

• Sunday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m., tree felling and chain saw safety with Peter Tracy, forestry consultant; 1 to 6 p.m., wood turning by Michael Chase of New Vineyard.

• Monday, Sept. 20, Agriculture Day, many demonstrations.

• Tuesday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m., Icelandic sheep wool felting with Deborah Poulin of Skowhegan; llama wool spinning and basket-weaving with Paul and Lee Farrell of Weld.

• Wednesday, Sept. 22, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., wood carvings by Bill Jerry of Jay and canning demonstration by Megan Farmer; 1 to 4 p.m., canning demo repeated; 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., wood turning by Michael Chase of New Vineyard.

• Thursday, Sept. 23, Moonspinners, a demonstration of spinning methods.

• Friday, Sept. 24, Open.

• Saturday, Sept. 24, tree felling and chain saw safety by Peter Tracy; 1 to 4 p.m., fly tying and casting by Maine Guide Selene Dumaine, who will demonstrate classic Maine streamers and Carrie Stevens reproductions; 1 to 4 p.m., ice fishing traps by Brian Maxham of Wilton.

Also during the week will be demonstrations by Western Mountain Blacksmith Association and wreath making by Russell Black of Wilton.
