I have read the articles written in regard to what the Lewiston city administrator, Jim Bennett, says would happen to the city of Lewiston if the tax cap passes.

I do not believe the state government is going to do anything about keeping their promise on funding until they see if the tax cap passes or not.

I feel that Mr. Bennett is using scare tactics on the city employees and the city taxpayers in saying that the city building will have to be sold, as well as the multi-purpose center, and that there will be employment cutbacks in many departments of the city.

Mr. Bennett’s priorities are wrong. If we are going to sell any city property, we should insist that the Colisee be top on the list. He and the City Council bought this property knowing that a tax cap was in the works.

As a taxpayer and hockey fan, I would hate to see any building or buildings be sold, rather I can see that we are still overstaffed in many departments of the city, and there is plenty of room to cut expenses before we liquidate any real estate that is owned by the city.

The people is Lewiston are smart enough to see that Mr. Bennett is using scare tactics and will not buy into his ideas or solutions on the tax cap question.
