OXFORD – An Otisfield man suffered an apparent back injury Thursday in a two-car collision on Route 121, Patrolman Alan Coffin said.
David McVety, 49, of Route 121 was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway after complaining of back pain, the officer said. A nursing supervisor said he was treated and released.
McVety was traveling toward Oxford village about 4:45 p.m., Coffin said, when Brandon Burnham, 18, of Oxford, driving in the opposite direction on Route 121, attempted to turn left onto Skeetfield Road in front of McVety. Neither Burnham nor his passenger, Ryan Grandmaison, 19, of Oxford, were hurt, Coffin said.
Burnham’s 1992 Buick sedan and McVety’s 1997 Plymouth had $500 damage each, he said.
Assisting Coffin were Oxford police Sgt. Rickie Jack and Oxford Fire and Rescue personnel.
