I have a question to ask about Sun Journal readers: “Are they better off today than they were four years ago?”

I’ve asked relatives and friends here and “away,” including a few that I feel are in that high-income bracket that we’ve heard so much about. I hasten to state that two are staunch Republicans and not one answered “yes.”

Now that tells me something.

George W. Bush, four years ago as Texas governor, during his campaign, promised us all the same things that he’s again promising to do as president seeking four more years.

Personally, my wife and I are in dire straits now with cutbacks in health, pharmaceutical requirements and cost of living expenses that it is doubtful we could survive Mr. Bush again.

Four years has been too much.
