LEWISTON – Eugene T. Gugenberger, 89, of Marsh Road, Sabattus, died Friday night at Marshwood Nursing Facility where he had only been there a few months.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on Jan. 2, 1915, the son of Eugene and Elizabeth Gugenberger.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. during World War II and later married the late Mrs. Jeanne Gladu who died in 1993.
Eugene worked for many years as a bus driver in New York City. He was a member of Our Lady of The Rosary Church and a member of The American Legion post 22.
He leaves a daughter, Shirley Beaule, of Sabattus; six granddaughters and their spouses, Linda and Michael Adkins, Cynthia and Marcel Gagne, Debra and David Favreau, Jeanne and Moe Gagnon, Jaynne and Lee Hinkley, and Kathryn and James Levesque; 11 great-grandchildren, Michele, Jessica, Joseph, Sean, Steve, Brian, Amanda, Britney, Hana, Joshua and Jacob; three great-great-grandchildren, Ethan, Trevor and Alexander.
