TOPSHAM – Wright-Pierce, a New England-based civil and environmental engineering firm with offices in Topsham and Portland, has announced the awarding of college scholarships to the following students: Alicia Brown, Sean Gill, Brian Gill, Patrick Gridley Darcy Guerin, Clifford Mayberry, Sean McVeigh, Meghan McVeigh, Sara Preble and Jonathan Rice.
The awards continue a practice which began in 1962 when the firm established a scholarship fund for the sons and daughters of Wright-Pierce employees.
Alicia Brown, a junior at Gordon College in Massachusetts, is the daughter of Bill and Kate Brown of Brunswick. She is an elementary education and psychology major.
Sean Gill, a junior at the Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire, is the son of Scott and Suzanne Gill of Brunswick. He is a journalism major.
Brian Gill, a sophomore at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland, is also the son of Scott and Suzanne Gill. He is majoring in computer technology.
Darcy Guerin, a sophomore at the University of New Haven in Connecticut, is the daughter of Tim and Lynn Guerin of Hebron. She is a forensics science major.
Sean McVeigh, a senior at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, is the son of Greg and Teresa McVeigh of Brunswick. He is majoring in computer engineering and runs on the cross-country and track teams. He is on a two-quarter internship in the Research Department of Eastman Kodak Co.
Meghan McVeigh, a junior at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, is the daughter of Greg and Teresa McVeigh. She is a marine biology major.
Patrick Gridley, a sophomore at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, is the son of Norm Gridley of Standish. He is a computational mathematics major.
Clifford Mayberry, a junior at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, is the son of Bruce and Naleen Mayberry of Yarmouth. He is majoring in psychology and is a founder and president of the ping-pong club.
Sara Preble, a sophomore at the University of Maine in Orono, is the daughter of Jeff and Joanne Preble of Auburn. She is majoring in food science and human nutrition.
Jonathan Rice, a senior at Norwich University in Vermont, is the son of Doug and Brenda Rice. He is a history major.
