PARIS – The Summer Reading Challenge at the Paris Public Library was a huge success. Thirteen teens and pre-teens read 200 books, exceeding the 150 they were challenged to read.
Each time they read a book, they also voted on the color that Connie Cushing, a volunteer at the library, would dye her hair. The choices were blue, purple or both, and after the votes were tallied, both was the clear winner so Cushing has sported blue and purple hair.
Cushing did her internship in library and information technology at the library and runs the Family Fun Night and promotes youth programs.
There was a tie for the top reader in the grade 8 to 10 category and as a result, three top prizes consisting of a $25 gift certificate to Books n Things and two free movie passes to Flagship Cinema were awarded.
There were three additional winners from the random drawing, with each winning a $10 gift certificate to Books n Things and two free movie passes to Flagship Cinema. Everyone who participated received a gift bag.
