LEWISTON – Manic Caf has been chosen as one of two state winners for the 2004 Restaurant Neighbor Award presented by the Maine Restaurant Association and American Express.

The award is given to restaurants that display outstanding community involvement. Manic Caf was chosen specifically for its commitment to the creative economy by supporting many local events and organizations such as L/A Arts, The Public Theatre, Maine PBS and the Festival de Joie.

Caf owner Linda Hertell said, “By supporting the arts, Manic Caf believes it helps to build a rich cultural community. This in turn encourages investors and employers to seek out Lewiston/Auburn for our higher quality of life.”

As a state winner, Manic Cafe will now have its application submitted to Washington to compete in the national event. The grand prize is a trip to Washington and $5,000 to be given to a choice of charity.
