LOUDON, N.H. – Andy Santerre virtually sealed his third consecutive Busch North Series championship Monday by winning the rain-delayed Sylvania 125 at New Hampshire International Speedway.
The Cherryfield, Maine, driver, who started 11th, never led until Lap 107 and slowly pulled away from Paul Wolfe and Ryan Moore to finish with a 1.138 second margin of victory.
Dale Quarterley and Mike Gallo rounded out the top five.
Santerre took the checkered flag for the fifth time this season. It was the 21st of his career, which puts him third in the all-time Busch North list.
Leading Mike Olsen by 82 points entering this weekend, Santerre stretched his advantage to a season-high 189 points after Olsen crashed into the inside retaining wall on a crowded restart. Olsen ended up 30th, 36 laps behind the leaders.
Kelly Moore of Scarborough, and Ryan’s father, led the most laps with 41, but faded to 15th after cutting a tire on lap 83.
Tracy Gordon of Strong finished 22nd.
With just two races remaining on the schedule, the teams face a quick turnaround, heading to Diver, Del., for their next race Friday.
