FARMINGTON – Foster Technical Center graduate and AmeriCorps Emergency Services Program member James Butler received his completion of service notice from AmeriCorps and Maine Fire Training and Education Supervisor Jack Berry recently.

Butler was the first Foster firefighter to complete his AmeriCorps service, assisting the Livermore, Livermore Falls and Jay Adult Education Firefighter I Program, projects for Maine Fire Training and Education and the Jay Fire Department.

Butler will receive an education award of $1,250 for his hours of service through AmeriCorps to help him continue his education in fire science at Maine Fire Training and Education/SMTC.

Butler is enrolled in the live-in program at MFTE and will work out of the Gorham Fire Station for the next two years of college.
