When citizens are at risk of losing their homes, we have to ask ourselves what is wrong? Why is this happening? Why do towns need so much money to run schools, fire departments and the police?

If we continue at the same rate, our system will collapse. It will be a no-win situation for the homeowners and those that tax us so heavily.

State of Maine legislators need to sit down and figure it out. We do not have a golden goose. The tax referendum will be on our ballot in November. Hopefully, it will be the eye-opener for all town officials, all the big spenders and school administrations.

A home is not a business venture where money is made and homeowners’ income increases each year. Once you retire, your income is fixed and you become a hit for them all.

One more thing. The state of Maine has opened its doors to immigrants, illegal or not. (An order concerning access to state services by all entitled Maine residents) signed by our governor by executive order. How many of our state representatives voted for this? It’s a good question for all to ask before casting their vote for their favorite candidate. Many will come here because they do not have to state their status, and will bring their families. They cannot be denied benefits. If they do not find work, who will carry the tax burden? Have you already guessed? I have!
