I read with interest Jim Bennett’s alarmist threats of service fees if we vote for the tax cap (Sept. 23).
I say the first cut we should make is to get rid of Jim Bennett and save his salary. We would be getting rid of the guy who has had a hand in the Bates Mill fiasco, costing taxpayers $70 million to $100 million, and is behind the parking garage and the Colisee, which is costing taxpayers another million-plus dollars, loss of taxable properties, etc.
The city should stay out of the private sector and quit wasting tax dollars. Citizens can start by getting rid of Bennett.
