JAY — Three people were seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision at Bean’s Corner on routes 133 and 156. All three were taken to a Farmington hospital. One person was transferred to a Lewiston hospital.
A dog also appeared to have a reddened eye, police said.
Clinton P. Swallow, 25, of the Kingfield area was heading south on Route 133 towards Bean’s Corner when a second vehicle driven by Samantha Wyman, 27, of West Farmington failed to stop at the stop sign, Jay Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier said.
While crossing the intersection, Wyman’s Chevrolet Cavalier vehicle was struck broadside by the Honda CRV driven by Swallow, Fournier said.
Both vehicles at point of impact, the officer said, left the roadway and ended up on the lawn of a house on the corner.
Jay and Wilton firefighters responded to the scene and used extrication tools to get Swallow and his passenger, Meredith J. Colliander, 24, of Hampton Falls, N.H., who owns the Honda, and Wyman, out of the vehicles, the officer said.
Ambulances took all three to Franklin Memorial Hospital, Fournier said.
The two females had serious injuries and Swallow had head injuries and suffered some memory loss, Fournier said.
Jay residents held on to the dog that was in the vehicle operated by Swallow until relatives could arrive, the officer said.
Wilton police assisted Jay police at the scene.
Both vehicles were totaled and were towed from the scene by Atwood’s Wrecker and Hill Top Collision.
The accident remains under investigation, Fournier said.
