ROXBURY – The Slippery Sliders Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the Roxbury fire station. Members are asked to attend. Meetings are open to the public.

Blood drive

RUMFORD – Blood donors in the Rumford area can contribute to their community on Tuesday, Oct. 12, when the American Red Cross bloodmobile is at the American Legion Hall, 184 Congress St. Donor hours will be from noon to 5 p.m., and all blood types are needed.

Thomas Miller, donor recruitment representative, said, “The need for blood donors is greater than ever before. What were once seasonal blood shortages are now chronically low inventories, with supplies only barely ahead of demand.”

Finance workshop

RUMFORD – A Financing Your Future Workshop will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 13 and 20 and Nov. 3, 10 and 17, in the community room of the Rumford Public Library.

The free workshop is sponsored by Women, Work and Community. It will help participants become more comfortable with money, look at their current financial situation, learn the basics of money management and plan for a personal financial future.

Storytelling

MEXICO – The Mexico Public Library will host an evening of storytelling at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14. Special guest will be Billie Gammon of Livermore.

Gammon, founder of the Norlands Living History Center in Livermore, will take on the character of a woman from the 19th century, the “Widow Carver.” From her portrayal in period costume, the audience will learn about Maine life during the era when the “Widow Carver” lived.
