LEWISTON – Robert L. Ness, 93, of 200 Stetson Rd., Auburn, passed away on Monday, Sept. 27, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Auburn, Oct. 8, 1910, a son of Dr. John A and Jean D. Ness. Robert.

He graduated from Edward Little High School and Bates College and was employed by the Federal Land Bank, Farm Credit Administration for 41 years.

He had offices in Waterville and Newport, and will be remembered by those in farming in Central Maine from the New Hampshire border to Eastport.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Frances; a daughter, Sally, of Mesa Ariz., a son, Robert L. Ness Jr., of Wolfeboro, N.H.; four grandchildren, Susan Beam, Robert III, Ruth and Sarah; three great-granddaughters, Katelyn, Kiersten and Kimberly Beam.

He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Norman.
