AUBURN – Heidi DeHaan scored the first of her two goals six minutes into the first half for the only goal St. Dom’s would need as the Saints cruised to an 8-0 WMC girls’ soccer win over Old Orchard Beach Saturday afternoon.
DeHaan took a crossing pass from Krissy Ouellete and deposited it in the back of the net to send the Saints on a scoring barrage. Allie Turgeon, Michelle Hamann, Autum Bell, Katelyn Bermudez, Rachel Nadeau and Danielle Theriault each added a goal to account for the final score.
Theriault and Abby Gilbert combined in goal to record the shutout.
Monmouth 6, Mountain Valley 1
RUMFORD – Bianca Cloutier drilled an unassisted goal at 221:04 of the first half as Monmouth handed handed Mountain Valley a 6-1 setback in MVC soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Jenn Lola, Jill Armstrong, Katie Woodman, Sam Fairchild, and Brittany Scirica each chipped in with a goal for the Mustangs.
Cortney Barrett made eight saves to record the win for the Mustangs.
Jenna Mawhinney scored the Falcons’ lone goal at 14:31 of the first half.
Oxford Hills 2, Cony 0
SOUTH PARIS – Abby Chouinard and Caitlin Stauder each scored an unassisted goal in the first half to lift Oxford Hills to a 2-0 win over Cony in KVAC soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Aly Fox turned back four shots to register the shutout for the Vikings (7-2-1).
Bri Rende made 12 saves for the Rams (4-4-2)
EL 4, Gardiner 1
GARDINER – Kelsey Pettengill drilled a shot just past the outstretched arms of the Gardiner keeper in the first half to lift Edward Little to a 4-1 win over the Tigers in KVAC soccer action Saturday.
Lauren Potvin and Lindsay Vibaras (two goals) rounded out the Red Eddies’ scoring attack. Brittany French needed only one save to record the victory.
Brooke Whitmore scored the Tigers’ lone goal in the first half unassisted.
Fryeburg 2, Poland 1
FRYEBURG – Coreane Henessey connected on a penalty kick for Fryeburg’s second goal as the Raiders edged Poland 2-1 in WMC girls’ soccer action Saturday.
Macy Hall tagged the Raiders’ first goal for an unassisted tally.
The Knights (0-9) recorded 17 shots as they unsuccessfully tried to scratch out their first victory of the season. Brianna Pratt prevented a shutout by posting a goal on a penalty kick for Poland in the loss.
Richmond 6, Hebron 1
RICHMOND – Stephanie O’Brien scored a pair of goals as Richmond stifled Hebron 6-1 in girls’ soccer action Saturday.
Huskies (2-1) midfielder Katherine Cole cut the lead in half in the opening minutes of the second half for a 2-1 margin. But the Bobcats (4-5) scored four unanswered goals through the remainder of play.
Vika Planson had nine saves for Hebron, while Celia Carlton turned back eight shots for Richmond in the win.
Field hockey
Oxford Hills 3, Lawrence 0
FAIRFIELD – Brianna Tompson scored with 11:21 left in the first half for the only goal Oxford Hills would need as they handed Lawrence a 3-0 shutout in KVAC field hockey action Saturday.
Sam Dolloff and Alicia Flick added insurance goals as the Vikings cruised to victory.
Val Seams turned back 10 shots to record the shutout.
Dirigo 3, Georges Valley 0
THOMASTON – Holly Knight scored a pair of goals to lead Dirigo to a 3-0 win over Georges Valley in MVC field hockey play Saturday.
Michele Holmquist rounded out the scorring with a second half goal putting the game out of reach.
Dani Tompkins made 11 saves in the win, while Jessica Keating made 24 saves in the loss.
EL 1, Mt. Blue 0
FARMINGTON – Katie Bonney netted the game-winning goal in overtime, slipping the ball by Ashley Lewia on a feed from Kristin Keene, as Edward Little (8-2) upended Mt. Blue 1-0 in KVAC field hockey action Saturday.
Despite a heavy advantage in shots (30-11), the Cougars (6-5) trailed in penalty corners and on the scoreboard.
Lewia finished with nine saves on the afternoon, while Edward Little netminder Mary Martin stopped six.
Kents Hill 3, Hebron 1
KENTS HILL – Nyssa Robinson scored the eventual game-winner with 7:27 remaining in the first half as Kents Hill coasted to a 3-1 win over Hebron in field hockey action Saturday.
Megan Irving netted the opening goal at the 26:00 mark for Hebron (0-3).
Hebron goalie Marley Lumbard had five saves, while Amber Smith tossed aside one of the two shots she faced for Kents Hill in the win.
Cony 5, Lewiston 0
LEWISTON – Katie Albert scored a hat trick as Cony sailed to a 5-0 shutout over Lewiston in KVAC field hockey action Saturday.
The Rams (6-3-1) led 4-0 at the half. Amanda Taylor chipped in with a pair of goals.
Goalie Amanda Wentworth had 14 saves for the Blue Devils (3-8), while Nancy Nimon turned away nine for Cony .
