LIVERMORE FALLS – Selectmen hold a public hearing on the proposed adult-only business ordinance at the start of their meeting tonight, which starts at 6:30 Monday in the Town Hall.
The board will take action on the proposal after the hearing, if necessary. Town residents will vote on the proposal Nov. 2.
The ordinance is the result of a site plan review filed with the Planning Board in July by Wayne Parker Jr. for an adult bookstore and video store, plus viewing booths, at his father’s property at 54 Depot St.
The proposal prompted several objections, and townspeople voted for a six-month moratorium on any new applications for adult businesses so the town would have time to create an ordinance.
When the planners did take up Parker’s application several weeks later, they rejected it as being incomplete. He has stated he will apply again.
Other items on the agenda include: a proposed straw poll on changing from Androscoggin County to Franklin County, supplemental tax bills and abatements from the assessor’s agent, uncollectable personal property taxes, a resolution on Question 1, and revenues going to tax reduction.
