PORTLAND – Michelle M. Amero has been named an assistant vice president in the Mortgage Department at Banknorth Group Inc. in Portland. A mortgage loan officer, she will continue to be responsible for originating mortgage loans throughout southern Maine.

Amero joined Banknorth in 1991 and has 13 years in banking. She previously has served as a legal assistant. Amero is a member of the Portland Board of Realtors.

A Portland resident, Amero volunteers with Greater Portland Landmarks and the Portland Mentoring Alliance. She is a 1991 graduate of the University of Maine. She is the daughter of Timothy and Claire Amero of Auburn and a 1985 graduate of Edward Little High School.
