JAY – A Farmington man was arrested Thursday in connection with burglaries of a Jay restaurant and home in October 2003 and July 2004.

Jay Detective Russell Adams charged Zackery Roy, 19, with burglary after an in-depth and ongoing investigation working with Franklin County Sheriff Lt. Niles Yeaton and Detective Tom White.

Roy was arrested in connection with burglary of LaFleur’s Restaurant and a burglary at an Oak Street home where a safe was taken, Adams said.

The restaurant burglary was reported on Oct. 25, 2003. The break-in was alleged to have happened either late Oct. 24 or early Oct. 25, with an undetermined amount of money taken.

In the Oak Street home burglary, a safe containing a substantial amount of money was stolen between noon and 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 24.

A substantial amount of property was taken from the home, according to Jay Police Larry White Sr. in a press release.

Roy, who was arrested at his mother’s home Thursday in Jay, was taken to the Franklin County jail in Farmington, Adams said.

He was released on $1,000 cash bail later in the same day, a jail worker said.

Roy is scheduled to appear Nov. 24 in Farmington District Court.

The investigation is continuing, and more arrests are expected in the near future, White said in the release.
