ANDOVER – Besides all the state and federal choices voters will make on Nov. 2, this town’s residents will also choose a new selectman.

Joan Carney, a selectman for 2 years and a longtime Andover resident, will soon be moving, leaving the last five months of her term vacant.

Five residents have already taken out nomination papers for the position. The papers, with a minimum of 25 signatures from Andover registered voters, must be returned to the town office by Oct. 19.

The person who receives the most votes on Nov. 2 will serve until the annual town meeting in March. Just before the annual town meeting, nomination papers will be available for those who wish to run for a full, three-year term.

The town is run by the three-person Board of Selectmen.
