PARIS – A Tuesday evening crash on Mount Mica Road in Paris sent two people to separate hospitals.

Paris police Sgt. Michael Dailey said Dennis Gammon, 38, of South Hill Road, Buckfield, sustained serious injuries and was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center after the 8:30 p.m. crash. His passenger, Melissa Dunn, 42, of Buckfield Road in Paris, was treated and released from Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.

Gammon was driving Dunn’s 1991 Chevy Cavalier toward Paris when he rounded a curve in the area of 418 Mount Mica Road and lost control. The car left the road and plowed into a field, rolling over several times and coming to rest on its wheels, Dailey said.

Gammon was ejected from the car and was found lying outside the driver’s side door. Dunn was able to leave the car on her own. Neither person was wearing a seat belt, Dailey said.

Dailey said Gammon appeared to have suffered head and neck injuries, and was semi-conscious when Dailey arrived on the scene. A CMMC representative declined comment on Gammon’s condition at the family’s request.

Dailey said the cause of the accident is under investigation.

The crash occurred in an area where there are blind curves in both directions, Dailey said, so police shut down the road for an hour and a half while PACE ambulance and Paris Fire Department personnel worked at the scene.

Norway police and Oxford County Sheriff’s Department deputies assisted with traffic control, Dailey said.
