LEWISTON – Theresa Y. (Custeau) Sevit, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

She was born in Lewiston on July 7, 1925, the third child of seven to Alphonse and Aurore (Pelletier) Custeau. She attended the Lewiston school system, and later practiced her art of fine hairstyling in Washington, D.C., then on to Madeleine’s Beauty salon owned by her sister and then as the propietor of Laurel Beauty Salon until retiring in 1987.

She then moved to Barker Mill Arms where she was well loved. In her retirement, she spent many hours volunteering at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, as well as her brother and sisters.

She is survived by her children, Tina Higgins and her husband, Peter, of Portland; son, Robert, of Michigan, and son, Brian and his wife, Vivian, of Auburn. six grandchildren, Ben, Nathan, and Sean Higgins, Kelin Sevit, Jaime and Brandon Sevit; a brother, Robert Custeau and his wife, Jeannette; a sister, Mariette Adler and her husband, Bernard, of Auburn; and sister, Claire LaMore, of Lewiston. All who knew her will deeply miss her.
