PORTLAND – The University of Southern Maine wil host a performance of the American Ballet Theatre Studio Company at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, in Merrill Auditorium.

The ballet company, based in New York City, is a classical company of 12 young dancers.

The Studio Company is directed by John Meehan, a former member of the Australian Ballet, and a leading member of the American Ballet Company since 1977.

Studio Company dancer Eric Tamm of San Francisco will join dancers from the Portland Ballet Company in a performance of “La Vivandiere.” He was selected for the Studio Company’s Associate Program (now the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre) and attended American Ballet Theatre’s 2004 summer intensive program on a full scholarship. Tamm joined the Studio Company in September.
