PARIS – “Kids and Money” will be the topic of a free workshop being offered from 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 22, sponsored by the University of Maine Cooperative Extensive in Oxford County, at the Extension office, Olson Road, South Paris.

“Dealing with issues around money with your children is a tough job,” said Wendy Legg Pollock, Extension educator and leader of the workshop. “However, it’s also a critical one. Too often parents leave any lessons about money management to chance, yet how you handle money related issues with your children can impact your relationship with them, their self-esteem, and their approach to managing money throughout their lives.”

“Parents often wonder what to do about an allowance with their kids,” Pollock said. “Is an allowance a good idea? How much should an allowance be? Should we pay for household chores?”

Parents and other caregivers of children are invited to attend the session for a discussion around these and other questions relating to how to handle money with kids. The workshop is open to the public. Registration is required by Monday, Oct. 18; call the Extension Office at 743-6329 or 1-800-287-1482.
