DALLAS – The Dallas Cowboys spent a week comparing Steelers rookie quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to a young Dan Marino.

How about some Terry Bradshaw to go with it?

Roethlisberger completed 21 of 25 passes and two touchdowns, completing 11 straight throws on the Steelers’ last two scoring drives Sunday, leading Pittsburgh to a 24-20 comeback win over the Cowboys.

Roethlisberger is the first rookie quarterback to go 4-0 since Phil Simms on the 1979 New York Giants. He also became the first Pittsburgh quarterback to beat Dallas since Bradshaw in 1982.

Jaguars 22, Chiefs 16

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars had a fast start and another frantic finish.

Byron Leftwich threw two touchdown passes, including a 14-yarder to Cortez Hankton with 45 seconds to play, to lift the Jaguars to a 22-16 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Leftwich also ran for a score as the Jaguars (4-2) snapped a two-game losing streak and won in the final minute for the fourth time this season.

Eagles 30, Panthers 8

PHILADELPHIA – Overmatched and undermanned, the Carolina Panthers had no chance against the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of last season’s NFC championship game .

Terrell Owens had all of his 123 yards receiving in the first half and Lito Sheppard returned an interception 64 yards for a score, leading the undefeated Eagles to a 30-8 victory over Carolina on Sunday.

ATLANTA – For three quarters, San Diego was a clear winner in the Michael Vick trade.

There was still another period to go.

With an electrifying display, Vick overcame a 10-point deficit by running for one touchdown, throwing for another and then taking care of the clock in the Atlanta Falcons’ 21-20 victory over the Chargers on Sunday.

Redskins 13, Bears 10

CHICAGO – Clinton Portis had his best day since changing teams and Washington throttled Chicago’s inept offense as the Redskins beat the Bears 13-10.

Ending a four-game losing streak, the Redskins (2-4) sacked struggling Bears quarterback Jonathan Quinn three times in the final three minutes before Sean Taylor’s closing-seconds interception sealed the victory Sunday.

Bills 20, Dolphins 13

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Takeo Spikes made good on his vow the Buffalo Bills would finally provide some good news for their fans this weekend.

Spikes returned an interception 11 yards for a touchdown, helping spark Buffalo’s 20-13 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Willis McGahee had a strong debut in his first career start. The Bills’ first-round pick in the 2003 draft had 106 yards rushing and put away the game with a 31-yard run that allowed the Bills to run out the clock.

Packers 38, Lions 10

DETROIT – Maybe getting away from Lambeau Field was just what the Green Bay Packers needed.

Brett Favre threw two touchdown passes, moved up among career passing leaders and led the Packers to a 38-10 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The game was close until Darren Sharper intercepted a pass early in the third quarter and returned it 36 yards – with a juke move and a hurdle into the end zone – to give the Packers a 24-10 lead.

Browns 34, Bengals 17

CLEVELAND – A record play helped the Cleveland Browns get their record to .500. Oh, and playing the Cincinnati Bengals didn’t hurt, either.

Jeff Garcia threw four touchdown passes – one a 99-yarder to Andre’ Davis – and the Browns overcame their own sloppiness for a 34-17 win over the inept Bengals on Sunday.

William Green rushed for 115 yards and Lee Suggs caught a 59-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter from Garcia.

Texans 20, Titans 10

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Houston Texans took another giant step forward.

David Carr threw for 266 yards and a touchdown, and Kris Brown kicked field goals of 21 and 50 yards, as the Texans beat the Tennessee Titans 20-10 for their first victory over the team they replaced in Houston.

The Texans improved to 3-3 for the first time in the franchise’s three-season history by winning in the stadium Nashville built to lure the former Oilers away from Houston.

Broncos 31, Raiders 3

OAKLAND, Calif. – Jake Plummer and Reuben Droughns did little wrong while turning the Denver Broncos’ biggest rivalry into a rout.

On the other hand, Kerry Collins and Oakland’s offense did almost nothing right – and the furious Raider Nation let them know it all day long.

Plummer passed for 190 yards and three touchdowns, Droughns rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown, and the Broncos took command of the AFC West with a 31-3 victory Sunday.

Vikings 38, Saints 31

NEW ORLEANS – Daunte Culpepper lost his top receiver, but did not miss a step in setting an NFL record.

Culpepper threw five touchdown passes to lead the Minnesota Vikings to a 38-31 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night. He did it without having Randy Moss for the second half.

It was the third time this season Culpepper threw five TD passes in a game, an NFL record.

Culpepper, despite pressure from the Saints’ defense, completed 26 of 37 passes for 425 yards. He threw two interceptions and was sacked twice.

The Vikings had 605 yards of offense.

Rookie running back Mewelde Moore had another big game for Minnesota, rushing for 109 yards and catching seven passes for 78 yards.

Moss, who leads the NFL in TDs receiving, injured his hamstring in the second quarter. He had two receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. It was the 10th consecutive game in which Moss had a touchdown reception.

Nate Burleson had six receptions for 134 yards for Minnesota (4-1).

Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks completed 22 of 38 passes for 249 yards and a touchdown. He was intercepted once. Deuce McAllister ran for 78 yards and two 2 touchdowns on 18 carries.
