LEWISTON – Sandra Jeanne (Malone) Putnam, 61, a resident of Lewiston, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Central Maine Medical Center after a long, courageous battle with pulmonary disease.
Born in Bangor, Feb. 14, 1943, the daughter of Arthur J. and Catherine E. (Richards) Malone, she grew up in Haynesville where she attended elementary school, and graduated from Hodgdon High School in 1961 as valedictorian.
She continued her education at Thayer Hospital in Waterville, graduating as a Lab Technician. In 1963, she married Robert A. Putnam of Cary, who remained her sweetheart throughout a 41-year relationship that was a testimony of love and devotion.
She was employed by Lewiston Housing Authority in the accounting department for the past 13 years. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lewiston, where she was the pianist and taught children’s Sunday School.
In addition to her husband Bob, she is survived by a son, Brett and his wife, Kimberly, and two special grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Derek, all of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Dale A. Malone and his wife, Judy, of Gorham; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; a very supportive church family; and a best friend and adopted sister, Linda Lee Desmarais of Turner.
She was predeceased by her father in 1974, and her mother in 1978.
