OTISFIELD – The Otisfield Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Old Town Office on Bell Hill Road, when the program will feature ghost stories and tales of haunted houses in the community.

One purpose of the meeting is to record these stories, which have been floating around town for centuries, according to President David Hankins. “Some of the stories about Otisfield’s witches were published in Bill Spurr’s history,” he stated, “but we keep hearing others that have never been written down, such as the one about the headless horseman of Porcupine Mountain.”

A feature of the evening will be a showing of the preview of the movie filmed two years ago on Bell Hill and Scribner Hill in Otisfield by a group headed by Lee Faulkner of Auburn. While the full “King o’ Cats” movie is not yet ready for public viewing, the preview will give the audience a good idea of the final product.

The meeting is open to the public. Costumes are not required but are strongly recommended. Halloween treats will be served.
