LEWISTON – Joyce M. Holbrook, 68, a longtime resident of Auburn, died Friday evening with her family and friends by her side, following a long battle with diabetes and heart disease.

Born in Rumford, Nov. 12, 1935, Joyce was the daughter of Charles and Effie (Smith) Hodge.

She grew up and was educated in Canton, but lived most of her life in Auburn.

She had been married for over 25 years to Eldon Holbrook.

She raised seven children of her own, adopted others, and always had an abundance of animals and pets around the house.

Family and friends were very important to her – she loved and nurtured them all in her own way.

Survivors include her husband, Eldon, of Auburn; her children, Charles and David Bartlett, Richard Holbrook, Bonnie and Betty Bartlett, Susan Jackson, and Sean Bartlett; one sister, Geraldine Swasey, of Wayne; one brother, Daniel Hodge, of Mexico; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
