NORWAY – Fire destroyed a mobile home at 370 Sodom Road on Wednesday afternoon.
Norway Fire Chief Mike Mann said it appears the fire started in the fuse panel.
Once the flames caught, Mann said, the fire ripped through the home quickly, an older model trailer with an addition, owned by Linda Proctor.
“It’s just like a chimney lying down,” he said.
The fire was discovered by a police officer on patrol at 4:06 p.m., Mann said, and Proctor had left the home just a short time before that. It took firefighters less than a half-hour to put out the flames.
At least 35 firefighters from Norway, Paris and Oxford responded to the scene, while the Waterford Fire Department provided coverage at the Norway station.
Mann said Proctor is staying with a friend. It was not known whether she had any insurance on the home.
