LEWISTON – Charlotte V. “Snookie” Wyman, 72, of Norway died Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in South Paris on March 31, 1932, the daughter of Charles and Olive Record Vashaw. She attended schools in Mechanic Falls and Norway. She married Richard Wyman Sr. on Sept. 27, 1948.

She had been employed at several area businesses, Norway Shoe Shop, Oxford County Community Services, Cornwall’s and Norway Laundry, from which she retired in 1983.

In 1984, she started the Undercover Flea Market on Route 26 in Oxford. She was a member of the North American Camping Association, the local snowmobile club, the Ridge Runners and the Moose Club in Florida.

She enjoyed singing and was in a band and the minstrel shows at the old Opera House on Main Street in Norway. She also belonged to the Norway Art Center. Her greatest accomplishment was that of wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband, of Norway; five children, Richard Wyman Jr. and his partner, Carol, of Norway, Judy Toothaker and her husband, Larry, of Oxford, David Wyman and his wife, Sandy, of South Paris, Thomas Wyman and his wife, Carol, of Harrison and Jayne Briggs and her husband, Steve, of Norway; 12 grandchildren, Kim MacFarland, Kevin Wyman, Tricia Johnson, Becki Kimball, Brent Wyman, Joseph Wyman, Josh Wyman, Oldriska Buehl, Miranda Cobbett, Heather Delamater, Jason Briggs and Jessica Briggs; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Priscilla Gammon, of N.H., Rachel Brisson, of South Paris and Eileen Ladd of Florida; two brothers, Charles Farris, of Oxford and Larry Farris, of Harrison; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Vashaw and Ronnie Farris, and a sister, Evelyn Austin.
