Dear Sun Spots: I am in need of assistance once again. Is there a company or bank, possibly a repossession company that could help me? I am a single person with no children and low income. I would like to get into my first home, preferably a mobile home, new, used, even a repossession is fine. Any help would be great! Names. Numbers. Anything! I want a home to call my own. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots would encourage you to contact your local Housing and Urban Development office for starters. You can also check them out online at www.hud.gov. Just click on frequently asked questions. If you do not have access to a computer at home, please note that local libraries typically have access to computers and the Internet for a limited time frame. You may want to contact your local library to see what its requirements are.

Dear Sun Spots: Would the lady I talked to in Dr. Robert Sylvester’s office about an old White, treadle sewing machine please give me a call at (207) 784-6571. I will be happy to talk to her about it. – No Name, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: Would you know of anyone who repairs 8 mm projectors from Kodak and Chinon? Thank you for your help. – N.C., No Town.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, you might want to contact Camera Service Center, 40 Lisbon St., Lewiston (207) 784-1509. While they no longer repair them themselves, they’d be happy to assist with sending your item to Chinon or Kodak. If you have a silent Chinon movie projector, the cost is $250, with half the balance due prior to repair or it’s $320 if 8 mm with sound. If the company determines your item is beyond repair, or they no longer have the parts for it, you would receive your deposit back minus a $45 charge. If your machine is a Kodak, you will need to contact Camera Service Center with the model number.

You may also want to consider transferring these to tape and Camera Service Center would be happy to assist you in preserving your family memories and history.
